Hollow Planets and Life Underground One of the questions some people ask is could there be hollow spaces inside the earth or other planets where people or other intelligent beings could live? This is not a new question. In 1864 a very popular novel was written by that great science fiction author Jules Verne called “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” Some believe it would not be possible on this planet because it seems to get hotter, the deeper we go. When the Soviets dug the deepest hole ever dug by man they finally had to stop after 40,000 feet because of the heat. The hole was called the Well to Hell. There has been an idea that something tragic happened on Mars and any intelligent beings on the planet at the time moved to the planet’s hollow center. There is a problem with this and it is scientists believe the center is liquid iron infused with some other material. This means both Mars and the Earth will get hotter the deeper you dig, so again no one is going to live relatively far under the earth. One thing we do find on the Earth is underground ancient cities. So many of them are everywhere, but none are more mysterious than those in Turkey. A whole group of underground cities which have been dated around 40,000 years old have been found. No one knows who built them. They are multilevel and each one could hold up to 60,000 people and their animals and there are enough of these cities to hold a total of a couple of million people. I am talking about cities like the vast underground city found in Nevsehir, Cappadocia, Turkey. They are not anywhere near the center of the earth, but they do show living underground is not a far out thought. Even in modern times we have built underground shelters to guard against being annihilated from a nuclear attack. It seems humans have always thought being underground made their lives safer under some circumstances. What would happen if a planet didn’t have a hot core and somehow intelligent life formed on the surface? Would they also feel being underground was safer for different reasons? There has been thoughts of hollow planets and moons. I remember when a strange light was seen coming out of Venus. Interestingly, Venus does not generate a magnetic field and this is attributed to the fact it rotates slowly. Scientists think it still has a liquid metal core. What if they are wrong and the reason there is no magnetic field is it doesn’t have a metal core and is hollow as some believe? We know the surface of Venus probably cannot support life due to the atmosphere and crushing pressure on the surface, but could Venus have at one time supported life but it moved very deeply underground as things deteriorated on the surface? Recent tests by NASA have proved our moon has at least some hollowness to it. When a rocket was crashed into it on purpose it rang like a bell for about an hour. There are some strange theories about the moon that some people think are true. The big one is the moon is really a spaceship which brought us here and is hollow inside and it has certain marks on the surface which prove it was towed into place. Could the moon have been a planet at one time, but lost its atmosphere and was knocked out of orbit and eventually captured by the Earth’s gravity? We are finding out there are quite a few rogue planets and stars. Rogue objects are objects which were knocked out of their orbit and travel freely through space. Could there be life inside the moon? Astronauts have seen light coming out of a crater on the moon and no explanation has ever come out about this. A debate among scientists about the core inside the planet Mercury has been taking place. Mercury has a very weak magnetic field which is only about one percent that of the Earth. This has made scientists wonder about the planets core. Is it possible Mercury is a hollow planet? It turns out there is a zone on the surface that is neither roasting from the sun or freezing like the other side. It is much more temperate. Could life have developed there and eventually decided to go inside the planet for a better life? Scientists claim they have verified the fact Mars has a molten core. In many ways it is similar to Earth and it is believed at one time was much more Earth like. While this would mean it is not hollow and going to deep would be dangerous, it doesn’t mean underground life is impossible. There are signs intelligent life has existed there even though NASA doesn’t admit it. Perhaps that life decided since Mars was failing, they would go underground. If this is true, we could find underground cities when we send people there. When we talk about underground bases and such, many times we are talking about aliens and UFOs. There is a theory by some UFO investigators that there are underground bases throughout the solar system and they are alien. There is another theory which states some are human because we once were more advanced but were attacked and sent back to the stone age. There is no proof for any of this of course, but various photos have popped up from time to time purporting to show signs of bases on asteroids and meteors. Except for runways and the occasional tower, most of the base would be underground. There are almost 200 moons throughout our solar system and we keep discovering more. Some of them would make an incredible underground base. The actual number is 181 so far. I say so far because I am sure we will discover more. If an intelligent race wanted protection from an attack or to protect their weapons, putting them deep underground might be the key to their survival. Our solar system could be bristling with bases like that and we don’t know it. Due to conditions on the surface of some moons and planets it just might be more desirable to live inside a moon or planet, or even a planetoid than on its surface. When we get out into deeper space will we find old abandoned bases with the relics of human society in them or perhaps extraterrestrial existence? One has to admit it is an exciting thought to think about. Some believe however we won’t be allowed to get that far out.
