Is Time Travel Viable?

Time travel, what a mystery. There seems to be no way to know what would really happen if someone invented time travel. By that I mean would they be able to go back into the past and interact with our earlier selves? That has always been the question. Scientists like to think time travel into the future is possible, but when they tell us how it would work, it seems nothing more than our systems slowing down so much that we have biology passing much faster around us. I have mentioned this in the past, but it is worth talking about again. It has been proven things slow down the faster we go. Atomic clocks in orbit whizzing around the earth have shown all these clocks slow down the same amount of time for the specific speed they are traveling at. This presumably means if a human is traveling at the speed of light, a year to him or her would be a heck of a lot longer to the rest of us and when the astronaut came back everyone who was his or her age would be much older. I don’t really call this time travel, it is something else which looks similar.

When you watch television or see movies which have to do with time travel they often have scenarios which seem erroneous on the surface. One show I saw had an assassin sent into the past to kill future people by killing their younger selves in the past. If someone dies in the past you should never remember their present version, because it would have never existed. But in the show this does happen with an explanation which states it takes a while for time to catch up. This makes no sense whatever. One of the things we have to wonder about is if someone goes back into the past might they not get younger as they go back thus limiting them to how far back they could go? Who is to say they would keep their present age? Might there be a chance the future person might somehow merge with the past person and see things through their eyes? We just don’t know what would happen. It could turn out the past, since it already took place can never be revisited, meaning there would never be time travelers coming here as some think they are.

If the past exists then that means the future exists in some way and all time would be occurring at once using some calculations. If this was true than the universe would really only exist for a split second, but since we are progressing through different frames of time it would seem to us to be almost eternal. This is the problem with thinking about time travel, it gives you a headache because it is one of the most complicated things we can think about. If time travel existed and we already had it, it would be one of the most fearsome weapons in history. One of the reasons would be people could be killed in the past and there would be no memory of them after that point. Lifelong friendships and loves would have never been as far as our memories were concerned, or at least it seems that way. There is no nation on earth which has time travel, because if they did they would rule the earth and make all their enemies disappear,  unfortunately this is the way of human nature.

There is a man who claims he spent 6 weeks in 2137 and 2 years in 2749. I don’t believe him for one second, but I am going to tell you about him, because there are some conspiracy theorists who believe his story. It starts with the famous Montauk Air Force Station. The base had another name and it was Camp Hero. It was from all accounts a research station and supposedly one of the things they were working on was time travel. He claims he was part of the Philadelphia Experiment. That is where a ship, the U.S.S. Eldridge, was sent through time in error and returned with many of its crew burned or buried into the bulkheads of the ship. He claims he jumped off the ship. He said he awoke in a hospital and was there for 6 weeks recovering from injuries. The hospital was in 2137. He described the changes he noticed and many of them had to do with the ocean rising and changing the coastlines of the U.S. He said the U.S. and Canada were no longer countries and the population of the entire earth was down to 300 million. Supposedly there had been a war. Europe and the United States had fought with China and Russia and there was much destruction, but technology existed to dispel the radiation in only a couple of days. His brother had also landed up in the same future hospital and had been on the Eldridge.

He then was somehow transported to 2749. He was stuck there for about 2 years. After those people realized what happened they took him back to 2137 so he could get his brother and then dropped them off in 1983. Apparently those people had time travel. He said he learned a lot in the 2 years he was there. He said there were floating cities which could be moved to different areas of the earth. Society was said to be run by a computer and there were no governments. The computer was able to speak to people telepathically. He said the computer made sure everyone had what they needed.

There is really nothing new in what he told us. Science fiction stories often talk about societies run by computers. As far as floating cities I read several years ago there had been designs in the works for these things for many years. I think I once read about this in either Popular Science or Popular Mechanics, but I could be wrong. The population being reduced to 300 million is also a concept talked about for decades. It had to do with the New World Order which is said to want to reduce the population down to 500 million people. He even mentions the fact that in the future the New World Order has collapsed.

When we talk about things that far in the future there has to be more than what we were told by this guy. The story is lacking in specifics and truthfully sounds just like more bunk. Could there be time travel in the future? Many would say yes, but I have to say we must first find out what the past would look like before we can determine this. Would we be looking at shadows or real people?
