The Study of Time and Time Travel It’s time to talk about TIME again. Scientists now have satellites which can detect gravity waves. You might say who cares? I wouldn’t blame you, but the detection of gravity waves can also mean we can detect how fast time is moving in certain areas. Time is a very strange thing as I have mentioned previously. It is hard to quantify. If we could manipulate these waves would we be able to manipulate time itself? This could be one of the most important questions ever asked. A person who could manipulate time could control the universe. There are many advantages to being able to control time and also many disadvantages. Theories abound about time and what happens to people we come across while traveling through time and even if we will come across people or not. If were able to travel through time would we be able to change the past to affect the future in some way? This has been written about many times in articles and books and has been the subject of many debates among not only scientists, but even among people who were just interested in the subject. Time is a fascinating topic to many of us. Some think if we go back in time, we will not meet any people at all, while others think we might see shadows of those who lived and died who are just acting out what has already happened. No one really knows what to expect, at least this is what we think. There have been rumors the United States might have perfected time travel, but it seems unlikely. Others think we will see nothing at all, because it has already happened and still others think we might see people but will be unable to interact with them. Interestingly, there are those who think the reports made by visitors to the Roman Catacombs in which people claim to see a troop of Roman soldiers marching through the catacombs is caused by some sort of time disturbance. Others think there is something in the stone which recorded this event thousands of years ago and somehow replays it. There is just so much we don’t understand about these things. People who have seen these soldiers say they don’t react to anything and just march away the same way every time like they were some sort of holographic movie. What weapon could be more dangerous than an H-bomb? It could be a time weapon or just a mistake made by a time traveler going into our past. I read a story once that came right to the point. It was fiction, but it illustrates what might happen if a time traveler going into the past makes a mistake. It assumes events can be changed in the past, but we don’t know that yet. A man goes into the past and is told he has to stay on an artificial path which is above the ground a few inches. He falls off the path and crushes a seed before getting back on the path and going back to his own time. That crushed seed stopped a tree from growing. That tree was one which the natives previously had made bows and arrows from. They were attacked and didn’t have sufficient weapons to protect themselves and lost a battle they had previously won. This led to their country being taken over which changed history for the worst. Terrorists would love to have time travel, they could leave things in places which could cause havoc throughout history. Think of this, there could be key historical people which were responsible for a country becoming democratic who they could kill by going back with modern weapons. They could also support people which might foster communism and such. If something could be brought back from the future, we could change that too. Just think about someone going into the future and bringing back a piece of technology which is hundreds of years ahead of us and we copy it. We could change our future and we wouldn’t know if it was for the better or worse. We also don’t know what we would find going into the future. We may not be able to see anything since we would be in a future where the future hasn’t happened yet for us. Some scientists are telling us the past, present and future are all taking place at the same time. Please don’t ask me how this is possible since it blows my mind. The only thing I can think of is if this is true, time might be taking place in different dimensions. As I said I can’t explain this, but I don’t believe anyone can. They may put forth theories, but that doesn’t mean they are correct. Until someone actually goes back into the past and brings back evidence, or goes into the future and brings back technology which is impossible today, these theories prove nothing. If someone does go into the future and brings back future technology there is nothing to stop them from going further and further into the future. You have to wonder what this would do to the time line. Could it destroy our future? Scientists usually say the hardest thing to do in time travel is go to the past not the future. The problem is going into the future the way they mean is a one-way trip. They are talking about traveling so fast everything in the spacecraft slows down. The people in the ship wouldn’t notice this, but people outside who aren’t moving would be aging naturally. A trip which takes a couple of years in a spacecraft could mean those left behind aged many more years and could have died from old age. If we had discovered true time travel by then I guess the travelers on their return could go back to the moment they blasted off thus changing the past. We wouldn’t be aware of this if it happened. As a matter of fact, it could be happening now and we would never know. That is scary stuff isn’t it? People could be changing our past and the change would seem like our natural past. At least this is what many scientists think. We seem to have a lot of scientists studying time, and there could be some type of time breakthrough one of these days. I don’t know what it will be, or even if we are allowed to know about it. The one thing I do know is a breakthrough in the study of time could be very significant.
