Fascinating Paranormal Stories
I always liked to write about things we don’t understand. Sometimes the subjects I choose are ridiculed by others but I really don’t care. The fact which I like to keep foremost in my mind as I am writing is do the subjects interest me and those who are interested in the same topics I am. An example of what I am talking about is the paranormal. While I am interested in the subject, I realize there is more fraud there than in any other subject I could write about, but some of the stories are interesting, I think some people have to admit that. So here goes, another paranormal article.
I don’t know how many of you watch Destination Fear, I admit I only catch one or two episodes a year, but I can see how it would interest some people. Recently The show was at Fort Knox. I didn’t see the show but read about what was going on. Supposedly they captured an EVP which is Electronic Voice Phenomenon. That is where a recorder picks up a voice which is not heard at the time it was said. It is said to be a spirit voice. It was said the message was you’re trespassing and it is also said EVPs are picked up regularly at the Fort. It is thought one of the former caretakers of the fort is haunting the place. It was also said a spirit was picked up on a thermal imager.
Its funny how every country, state and territory has stories about the paranormal. Why do so many people believe in it? One reason is many people have had experiences they can’t explain such as being contacted by dead relatives, having strange things happen to them and other things they consider paranormal. It doesn’t matter where you come from or where you live, there will still be many people who believe in it. Some things which happen very easily could be misidentified. Take all those monster stories for example. There are plenty of monster stories around and some of them have to do with lake monsters. One such story is the Higgins Lake Creature in Michigan. In 2006 it was first reported a creature was seen slinking down the murky depths of Higgins Lake. A woman who was on the lake in a boat claims the monster attacked her boat and turned it over. She said she fell into the lake and swam like mad for the shore and luckily made it. A photo was taken of a boat on the lake and a shadowy figure can be seen under the water near the boat.
As we all know, monsters hiding in the water are not claimed to be the only monsters. There are plenty of stories about monsters. Bigfoot is a good example, but to me one of the most fascinating is the Mothman. The Mothman was first sighted in West Virginia in 1966. He was described in many different ways, but the consensus of opinion is he looks like a giant bird with the shape of a man and has glowing red eyes. A lot has been written about him and he was even linked to the collapse of the Silver Bridge. Many people said they sighted him and made reports. Scientists said it was not paranormal and they thought it was a Sandhill Crane which is almost as tall as a man and has red around the eyes. Was it a crane people saw or a monster? We may never know.
There is a legend about a witch in Michigan. It is called the legend of the Ada Witch. The story goes an unfaithful wife would sneak out of the house while her husband slept to see her lover. The husband realized what was going on and stayed awake one night. While he pretended to be asleep, he saw his wife sneak out. He followed her and saw the two lovers together. He killed his wife and tried to kill the lover. He succeeded but at the same time he was mortally wounded and died. This happened near a cemetery. Many witnesses have said they have seen a woman in white haunting the cemetery. There are all sorts of claims about people seeing paranormal events and hearing screaming and footsteps when no one is there. Some say they have had their shoulder tapped and have been touched.
One paranormal story which appeared in the Sun, a British newspaper, carried the story of a woman who said not only was she bruised by a ghost “on the bum”, but her mother was held down on her bed and the ghost laughed. The woman believes her home is haunted and the ghost followed her to work. She says she saw the ghost and it was tall, slender and bald. She told the ghost he was not welcome but that did no good. A medium was brought in. Water taps were being turned on by themselves and noises were heard upstairs and then she saw the spirit. She said before the spirit haunted her home her coworkers used to tell her about spooky happenings at work and the woman believed the ghost came home with her one day. Eventually the spirit was driven from the home.
It is being said there have been some strange paranormal events happening at Conwy Castle in North Wales. The castle has been named as one of the most haunted in the area. Visitors to the castle claim to have seen a ghostly monk. This is not the only thing they have seen. A black silhouette and a large man in armor in candlelight have also been seen. Some of the visitors were so scared they left even though it was daytime. At one time the castle was used by King Henry VIII as a prison, so one can only imagine the number of deaths which took place there. One man claims to have taken an incredible photo of spirits lined up and being led by one with a sword.
There is a spirit known as The Green Lady which is said to haunt Saint Audoen’s Church in Dublin, Ireland. The Green Lady is said to be the ghost of Darkey Kelly. She was accused of running a brothel and alleged to be a serial killer. She was said to have become pregnant from Dublin’s sheriff, Simon Luttrell who was the 1st Earl of Carhampton and a member of the Hellfire Club. When she asked him for money it is said he accused her of witchcraft and killing the baby in a Satanic ritual. She suffered an unusual execution which was first by partial hanging then burning at the stake.
