Paranormal Experiences
All over the world people are having real paranormal experiences. Unfortunately, this has been marred by several of different factors and they are hoaxers, mental illness and ridicule. I think you all know where I am going with this. People exploiting the paranormal by pretending to be able to contact dead relatives, have been trying to make money from other’s grief for thousands of years. Then there are those poor unfortunates who really believe they have made contact with the deceased, but it is only their mental illness kicking in. Lastly there are some who have actually heard voices of the departed, and seen apparitions contacting them, but are too afraid to say anything about it to others for fear they will be deemed crackpots.
I have found when you have a conversation with someone you already know and tell them you had such an experience there is a good chance they will then tell you about an unexplained event they had after a dear one died. In the beginning I was surprised by the number of people who admitted to me they had one of these experiences. The reason this is so unexpected was the fact if one would have asked them the question first about this, they would have laughed or denied it, especially if the person asking the question was unknown to them.
There are some things which cannot with certainty be credited to the paranormal and they are shadow figures and UAPs, formerly known as UFOs. I think if we are talking about UAPs, most people would not credit them to the paranormal even though you might find them listed under that in some places. As for shadow people, that is just one of the things we don’t know enough about. What we do know is many people have seen them even in very dark rooms because the black color is so deep it stands out even in the dark. Many have reported seeing them just drifting along the walls or ceilings. They seem to come in several varieties. The first is in a human silhouette, the second is a sort of blob, an another is in an animal shape. A researcher claimed he was actually grabbed by a shadow figure; this is most unusual.
The internet is full of stories about experiences people claim to have had which are cited over and over in different articles. The one which I remember the most was about a person who claimed he had to move a body and he got startled because the body looked like him. I guess this would be disturbing on a couple of different levels to many people. I don’t know if this is a true story, but it really made the rounds.
I have to wonder how many people believe in haunted houses? I know many say they don’t but a lot of them would never stay the night in a supposedly haunted home. It isn’t always the very old homes which get the reputation of being haunted, but they seem to get more than their share. One of those places is Mount Vernon, the former home of George Washington. In the home, in Washington’s bedroom is the actual bed he died in. This seems to make things even more creepy. I don’t know if it is done anymore, but they used to let the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association stay over night and sleep in the bed according to a report from the New York World paper from 1890. A Mrs. Beale was said to have stayed in that bedroom and saw a ghost. She also said she heard the sound of Washington’s sword clanking.
I cannot discount the fact if one is put into a situation like staying in the room Washington died in and maybe in the very bed, it could affect the person doing it and might scare them so much they might imagine all sorts of things as they stayed awake all night, afraid to sleep. We also have to take this into consideration when hearing or reading reports of hauntings.
One person who was at their job, worked in a place where there was many people walking around. Out of the corner of her eye she would glance someone who would always seem to disappear and later show up in a different location and disappear again. At first she believed it was a visitor, but over a long period of seeing this every day, she began to believe it was some sort of spirit. It was not dangerous, just curious and she realized it may have been a former employee who died and who loved their job so much they come back for a visit every day. Since this happens in the daytime and not at night, it is unusual. The women is not the least bit disturbed anymore about these appearances.
One of the things which I think has never been fully explained is ball lightning. The definition sounds reasonable until you notice strange things in some cases. The definition of it is “a rare and little known kind of lightning having the form of a moving globe of light several centimeters across which persists for periods of up to a minute. ” One woman reported being followed around her home by what she believed was ball lightning. If so it lasted far longer than just up to a minute and why did it follow her before leaving the home?
One article posted by the BBC asks the question why do people in modern times still believe in the paranormal. This seems to indicate everything about the paranormal is either a hoax or imaginary. If you start out with this premise, you are not only starting out with a closed mind, but your mind is made up and you are giving away the fact you made a decision before ever investigating. It does quote an interesting statistic however, and it is three-fourths of all Americans believe in the paranormal and one in five have claimed to see a ghost. One in five Americans seeing a ghost is quite a lot. The population of the United States is about 330 million people. This means 66 million people are making that claim. Can they all be mistaken, mentally ill, or the victims of scams? Some of them have told others close to them about their paranormal experiences, creating more believers. As far as all those paranormal shows on television, I don’t think many people are convinced by anything shown on them. You just can’t explain away some of the things people have seen or heard.
