Quantum Computers Will Change Our Lives Quantum physics is going to change the world and the way we think. When scientists discovered the quantum world, they discovered something akin to an explorer finding a world that was so different from ours, we had no way of understanding why things worked there the way they did. The same is true of the quantum world in many ways. There are different definitions for quantum physics, I like the one which tells us it is about the tiny world of atoms and electrons and such. It also teaches what we learned in Newtonian physics may not be true for Quantum physics. For example, something in quantum physics can exist in two stages at once and if we watch a Quantum experiment it can change the results. We had no idea Quantum physics would be different from Newtonian physics until we discovered it. This makes me wonder what else we discover will change the way we think about things. There are those who think we will solve the mystery of death and even now we are making progress in that area. I don’t know if that will ever happen and furthermore, I don’t even know if that would be a good thing. Perhaps faith is better for us. You probably know all this already if you are either interested in the subject or a consistent reader here since I have talked about this subject a few times before. Why do things operate different in Quantum physics than they do in Newtonian physics? There are theories about this but I don’t think anyone really has a deep understanding of why these two branches of physics operate so differently at times. One has to wonder what will become of us after increasing our understanding of Quantum physics? Will this affect evolution in some way? We are beginning to see what will happen in the science of computing. Qbits are needed for Quantum computing. Until recently the most Qbits we could control for computing was 56. It was just announced a major revamp of a Quantum computing processing chip will now allow hundreds of Qbits then thousands and eventually millions to be controlled. It is hard to imagine anything with this much processing power. The 56 Qbit machines were able to solve some problems a heck of a lot faster than any super computer. Some scientists believe a million Qbit machine or less might be able to solve almost any problem we can think of and tell us everything about anything including all the secrets of the universe. I don’t know about that, but it certainly looks like it will change all of society. What will change when these powerful Quantum computers begin to be used and keep increasing in power? One of the things I believe the human race can look forward to is the solving of all our earthly problems. Take diseases for example. A powerful quantum computer might be able to solve the problem of curing every disease in ways we have never thought of. When people think of meeting with aliens to get their technology which might be thousands of years or more ahead of us, Quantum computing might be able to close that gap. The reason is the power of the Quantum computer. It will reveal secrets that will make us feel like gods when we look back at today. I often think about those great devices on Star Trek and believe Quantum computing may be able to deliver at least the secret to some if not all of them. One of the things Quantum computers promise is much faster space travel. I am sure they will ferret out new ways to propel ships through space at speeds we can’t even imagine right now. There were a couple of things Einstein was incorrect on and I believe one of them yet to be discovered will allow us to go much faster than the speed of light, warp speed we could say. Some people think there is a solution to every problem, we just need the brain power to solve these problems. I think Quantum computers will supply this brain power, but I believe even more, I believe they will show us how we can increase our own brain power and this could change the human race. Maybe the future for us is to become a more rational race. This in itself might allow us to lessen wars and crime. We need to do this if we want to be truly a great race. If we are able to solve most diseases, we have to make sure companies do not stand in our way because it hurts their profits. Many people believe cancer cures are known about, but are being kept from us because the drug companies make so much money on cancer drugs. The companies will vehemently deny this of course and I am not saying it is true, but maybe there have been small discoveries which would help us with the problem being kept from us for profit. We were already on our way to eliminating schools in the future by creating chips which would have all the knowledge needed for any profession, which could be implanted in a person. This is the idea for the future, but it could be affected by Quantum computing in some way. Perhaps a method of sending the info to the brain without an implant will be discovered when Quantum computers hit their speed goal. Quantum Computing is almost spiritual. What I mean by this is just our presence and looking at an experiment can change the outcome. I haven’t heard an explanation why watching a beam of light makes it go into two different slots at once, but it goes through one slot if not watched. I am going to go way our on a limb here. Edison had tried to design a machine which would allow someone to talk to the dead. Might we succeed in this with a Quantum computer, could it find a way to make contact? This idea might make most of you laugh, but science believes energy lasts forever and if we are turned into energy after we die, we might be able to be contacted according to some people. After a couple of years of Quantum computing we might not be able to recognize our past anymore because we might be so far more advanced. It will make the advancements of the past look like baby steps. Right now, Quantum computers are large, but advances are being made to make them smaller, but they will still be much larger than our personal computers and more like the size of super computers. One of the reasons is they have to be cooled to a very low temperature. If and when we can solve this problem maybe we will even be able to carry one in our pocket like we do our cell phones. That would be a good first project for a Quantum computer.
