Software I Recommend For Windows 10
One thing I find when using windows 10, which by the way I keep current by downloading all the new improvements, is the clip board. It works well but it is limited to only 1 clip at a time. There are times when writing where I would like to save several clips for further use. I have looked and used a lot of enhanced clipboards over the years and the one I am using now is ClipClip. No, that is not a typo. ClipClip allows me to save multiple clips. Not only can you save the clips but you can arrange them by topics such as type, content, date, context, you can even save them for next time you use ClipClip. By the way ClipClip is free.
Are there any photo enhancement and creation programs which work as good as Photoshop? Yes, there is one I have been using for years. It is expensive but hundreds of dollars less than Photoshop. Just about every thing you could do in Photoshop you can do in it. The name of the software is Xara Designer Pro by Magix. Many professionals are using it. It is complicated as any good software with lots of options is, but once learned, it is incredible. Years ago, I used it to take out all the cracks and blemishes in old photos I had so I could post them on my family website. The software requires an update fee after the first year but it is well worth it. Photoshop suite is listed on the adobe website for $52.99 per month which is a rental while Xara Designer Pro is listed on the Magix website for sale at $199.00. It also states the normal price is $299.
There are a lot of website creation programs online, but most of them have limitations. They usually come with a fee you pay to get a website and a name. I know someone who thought he could build a professional website using one, but it limited him from doing things he wanted in the design. This leaves only three choices. Go with the limitations, get a professional to design the website or use a program to do it yourself. I have been using a wonderful program for this website for many years. I have had several versions of it over time. It is Dreamweaver by Adobe. It was pricey but there is nothing better as far as I am concerned. There is a steep learning curve, but it allows you to do whatever you want. Once purchased you will find you do not need to learn everything, just the parts which apply to what you want to do. There is a story attached to this. When I first bought it, I had shopped around for the best price. This as I said was many years ago. I bought it but as I was using it, it stopped working. I contacted Adobe and they told me it was an illegal copy. I was very upset. They said it was a shame what happened and they would recognize the software to help me out. I have been a customer ever since, buying all the updates. The best part of using the software is you do not need to know how to code. It can be rented for $20.99 a month. If I were to buy it now, I would get an older copy which can be bought outright.
There is a simple and free photo program which I have been using for over 20 years named Infanview It allows you to make simple and even not so simple alterations to photos. It can handle almost all picture types. You can adjust the size, resolution, colors, and so much more. Need to add text to a photo, no problem. Simple color adjustments and a little art is available with the paint pallet. Want to change the size of many photos at once? All you have to do is use the Batch mode to do it with one click. Just transfer the photos you want to an open window after setting the new size and click a button. I highly recommend this software and since it is free, what do you have to lose? It is one of the most downloaded of all the freeware.
One piece of software I recommend is an improved uninstaller. It is important to note no uninstaller is perfect, but this one is much better than the one built into Windows. It is IObit uninstaller. I chose to use the Pro version, but there is also a free version. It will not only delete most software which was installed, but also the pieces that other uninstallers leave behind. Again, the price is right, since it is free.
The same company makes software named Advanced System Care. I have also been using this for years. It works in conjunction with your anti-malware software, but doesn’t get in the way or slow things down. It picks up on additional problems and gives you the option of deleting them or not.
I have mentioned my backup software in the past, but it is the best. It has never failed me and also allows me to create a virtual disc so I can look at the backup image to examine the software. Restoring all the software on a computer is a breeze with it as long as you have faithfully created a backup. The name of the software is Aomei Backupper. The free version will work fine for most people. I prefer the professional version which was only a few dollars more. I have only had to replace my software once on this computer, but it was very easy to do and everything worked fine.
One piece of commercial software I find very useful is Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe. It is being sold for all different prices. Staples sells it for $49.95, while Walmart has it on sale as of the writing of this article at $39.95. On the Hallmark site it sells for $49.95. We all know how expensive greeting cards have gotten. The software produces professional cards which are either large which is half the size of a letter sized sheet of card stock or small which is one fourth the size. While I haven’t calculated the price per card which includes the use of ink, card stock and envelopes, it is far cheaper than going out to the store and spending three to five dollars on a greeting card. Not only that, it is very convenient. I am very happy with it.
