Ancient Mysteries, Solutions and Proposed Solutions When we talk about ancient mysteries, one of the mysteries which would have to be top on the list of mysteries is how did the Egyptians transport the great blocks of stone they used to build the Great Pyramid at Giza. Some of the stone, the limestone, seems to have come from about 8 miles away, but the granite came from 533 miles away. We are talking about stones which weighted tons. Archaeologists have been arguing about how this was accomplished for many years, but something has been found which might settle that argument, it is an ancient scroll made of papyrus, along with a ceremonial boat and a network of waterways. It seems the Egyptians designed a special system of canals and the port where the boats arrived was only a few yards away from the pyramid. This still doesn’t explain how the Great Pyramid was built, or how the stones were loaded on and off the boats and brought from the boats to the pyramid. There is an ancient manuscript from the 15th century which no one has been able to translate. It is known as the Voynich manuscript. For hundreds of years people have been trying to figure out what it says, but to no avail. It seems to have finally been almost completely translated, because a big step in figuring out what it says has been made. Scientists using artificial intelligence have determined that about 80 percent of the language is Hebrew. The scientists were very surprised at this. The reason they hadn’t found this out earlier was the fact the person or people who wrote the Voynich manuscript used alphagrams. This is a system where one phrase defines another so the text had to be unscrambled. They found most of the words in the Hebrew dictionary, but didn’t know if they made sense. Here is a sentence from the manuscript, “She made recommendations to the priest, man of the house and me and people.” Before the text can be completely translated the scientists stated they need help from historians of ancient Hebrew. Sometimes mysteries are solved, but not everyone believes the solutions are correct. Take the case of the Mary Celeste. The Mary Celeste was a ship which was found intact, but everyone on it was missing. Dinner plates were still on the table and nothing seemed to be disturbed. It was thought if pirates would have gotten aboard they would have taken the cargo and any valuables they could find. Besides the cargo, the valuables of the people who were on the ship were still there. The ship contained over 1,700 barrels of alcohol and when the ship was found 9 were empty. Here is what one scientist thinks happened. The scientist discovered alcohol could explode under extremely rare conditions in a way which would not show any sign of fire after the explosion, but it would blow all the hatches open from a pressure wave. He thinks this scared the hell out of those on the boat and they took to the life boats, but never made it back. Is this the solution to the disappearance of everyone on the Mary Celeste? Maybe. One of the great mysteries is what were the people like who built Teotihuacán the great abandoned city in Mexico which is only about 30 miles from Mexico City. The city is colossal, but information about its builders is extremely rare in this pre-Aztec city. Sergio Gómez, an archaeologist who has spent over 30 years working at this site noticed a sinkhole which had opened at the base of the pyramid known as the Temple of the Plumed Serpent. Bad weather had caused the sinkhole to form. When Gómez was lowered into the hole he realized it was a tunnel. The problem was huge boulders blocked both ends. He decided to bring in ground penetrating radar and found the tunnel led to a subterranean room below the temple. He found the tunnel ran to the center of the pyramid directly underneath it. It is believed the city was founded in 400 B.C. What will be found in the room below the pyramid? Will it finally let us know more about the builders of this incredible city which has stumped us for hundreds of years? Objects have been found in the tunnel and they include hundreds of golden-colored orbs. The orbs were made of clay and covered with what is known as fool’s gold. It turns out over 50,000 objects had been thrown into the tunnel when the city was abandoned and the tunnel was sealed. Liquid mercury has also been found. Soon we may know a lot more about who lived there and their culture. There are a lot of circular holes in a region known as Nasca, Peru. For years scientists have been debating why the holes were constructed. The holes are unusual since they are lined with rock on the sides and form a swirl shape much like the shape of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The holes are known as the puquios. There is no doubt they are engineered. When they were examined from space the mystery of why they were created was solved, according to some scientists. It seems they are still performing their designed purpose which has turned out to be bringing water to the desert. The puquios were mentioned for the first time in 1605 A.D., but their age is not known. It appears canals were built to bring water to storage areas and the shape of the puquios allowed water to keep flowing. There are still many ancient mysteries which are unsolved, but some scientists are telling us by the time this century is over we will have solved many of them. This could be true, especially with the increasing power of artificial intelligence, which is being used on many of these projects. There are those who believe we might even discover some ancient secrets which will help us in some fields. We have already found this to be the case with Babylon Base 60 math. It is much more accurate than what we are using now. It is far better than the trigonometry we use today and was found on a 3,700-year-old tablet. Below is the address of a short video about this, |
