Dating Ancient Structures
Things are happening with ancient structures. We have been not only finding out many of them could be far older and some were measured and constructed so accurately, we would have a hard time meeting those measurements today, but we are also finding out some might have hidden abilities. Some scientists believe the Great Pyramid of Giza can focus electromagnetic energy. There are those people who seemed to know this years ago and were claiming all sorts of things about pyramids. One such claim was putting a razor blade under a pyramid shaped object kept the blade sharp. Personally, I think this claim went way too far, but there is an idea that the Great Pyramid might have been a power plant because it was found water ran under it and there was the residue of chemicals when combined could produce electricity. Here is something even more strange, Russian scientists are saying the Great Pyramid is concentrating energy in its chambers and base so efficiently, we might be able to use this to increase efficiency in solar cells. Imagine ancient technology being that advanced. Nikola Tesla seemed to suspect this and conducted experiments almost 100 years ago into this.
I often wonder if we were transported back a couple of thousand years ago, if we could be as smart as some of our ancestors were, but I am not even sure most of us would survive, including me. Would we be capable of building aqueducts that let water run uphill like the ones the Romans built? Going back further, could we have built the Great Pyramid? Truthfully, I really don’t think so, I think we would be lost without our machines. Even with them we would be hard pressed to match the precision of the ancient Egyptians. It is any wonder why people keep saying some of these ancient structures must have been built by extraterrestrials, or at least they assisted? I say most of the ancient structures were built by us, but there are a few that raise a lot of questions.
There are things being claimed in archaeology which seem to defy our understanding of history. There is a pyramid in Indonesia named the Gunung Padang. It is notable for different reasons. One is it has been dated by one archaeologist as being built in 25,000 B.C. As if this wasn’t startling enough, the archaeologist says in his paper which was published, humans didn’t build it. The contention is the techniques found to be used in the construction of the pyramid were beyond the capabilities of humans at the time. This statement does remind me of another similar statement which was proven wrong. It involved a group of temples in Turkey one of which was Gobeklil Tepe. It turned out to be at least 12,000 years old and built in a period when it had been said humans were all hunter gatherers and never stayed in one place to accomplish monumental building. On top of that there were carvings of animals and designs made into hard stone which were before that were said to be impossible because tools didn’t exist which were capable of doing this. It was not only made by humans but the dating could be wrong and some say it was really 20,000 years old or older and the people must have learned farming because all those temples would have taken a long time to build and game would have run out.
It is very hard to date structures, especially stone ones. For years a structure found in England which was named King Arthur’s Hall was thought to be medieval, turned out to be much older. Today it is thought it is from the Neolithic period. Did you ever wonder what structure was the oldest on earth and its age? It is said to be 476,000 years old, which is a date that many believe precede the human race. It is not much to look at, just being a notch in a pair of interlocking logs. I was surprised to find these logs existed. The logs were found along the Kalambo River in Zambia. Just when you think we could not go back any further than maybe 25,000 years in discovering structures, we find something like this.
One of the things I find very strange is why so many very ancient sites exist on Malta. It seems the people who went there in ancient times were prolific builders and were talented. It is believed that the first people to settle there came from Sicily in about 5,200 B.C. It is believed those people were the Sicani. One has to wonder why they left one island for another island which is very much smaller, as a matter of fact, 900 times smaller. Sicily is 9,908 square miles, while Malta is only 124 square miles. Perhaps they thought it would be easier to defend because it was smaller.
There is a cave located in Thessaly, Greece. It is said there are signs of human habitation dating back 130,000 years ago. The ancient humans had constructed a stone wall in front of it. The cave is said to be full of ancient artifacts. The stone wall has been dated to be 23,000 years old and is said to be the oldest standing stone wall in the world. I believe one of the ways a stone wall would be dated is by the date of the vegetation you find between the rocks. It is said a new method of dating known as Optically Stimulated Luminescence was used this time. I looked up this method and here is what I found. Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) is a technique for quantify doses from ionizing radiation. The technique formulates the use of electrons trapped among the valence and conduction bands in the crystalline structure of substance. Yeah, I know, it sounds complicated.
Even the date of construction of the Great Pyramid has its detractors. Most archaeologists think it is about 4,500 years old, give or take a few years. An expert on erosion has examined the Great Pyramid and Sphinx and came to the conclusion they are about 10,000 years old due to the water damage on their base. The last time enough water was on the plateau to cause this was about 10,000 years ago. Recently some archaeologists believe there were water channels built around the base from the Nile River so the heavy stones could be brought up to the pyramid by boat. I don’t think this was enough water for a long enough time to cause erosion of two stone monuments. Another fact is if the stone had been eroded 10,000 years ago, it might have happened long after it was built, making the pyramid even older.
