Why Aren’t We More Advanced? There is ancient technology which if would have been universally adapted would have advanced the human race by centuries. When I look at the ancient Greeks, especially those who were in Alexandria, the Silicon Valley of its time, and see some of the inventions and how they were just forgotten over time it breaks my heart. Look at the first primitive steam engine named the Aeolipile. It was created by Hero and then was gone. It does make one wonder if there was a tie in with some of these inventions and extraterrestrials. This idea is reinforced by how the incredible Antikythera computer was made and never followed with anything as far as we know. Why were these two very advanced inventions not built upon? Could it be there actually were extraterrestrials watching us and felt we were not ready for the quick technological advancements we would have had? Where would we have been today if we had advanced just with two inventions without even taking into consideration all the other great inventions the ancient Greeks had. Why would they not have been improved upon? The other part of the puzzle is, did the inventors get help inventing them as Nikola Tesla and Einstein said when they talked about visions of objects just appearing in their mind? There seemed to be many brilliant people among the ancient Greeks which does make one wonder why there would not have been constant improvement in technology. Could it be the greatness of what was invented and its effect on society was not realized. Some of these inventions took time to create. If we look at the mechanical computer it must have taken some time to build and the mathematical calculations required for the gear ratios and such were brilliant. Why was this not constantly spoken about in Greek history? We didn’t know of its existence until it was found in an ancient shipwreck and even then, it sat in the basement of a museum for many decades before its crusted surface was revealed for what it really was and that was a history changing object which proved not only to be an ancient computer but something which proved we had precision metal gears at least 1,000 years before we knew it. Are we jumping to conclusions with this one? We believe it was ancient Greek because it was found on a Greek shipwreck but what if it was an ancient archaeological find by the Greeks and was from an even older race which we know nothing about today? Afterall, there was only one found so far, so it could be from a place like Atlantis if it existed. The ancient computer is puzzling since we know of another ancient Greek computer which was used on a stage and for shows and was programmed to move certain ways by ropes. Even that one was very advanced for the time but it couldn’t hold a candle to the Antikythera mechanism. If they were both ancient Greek computers why was one so many light years ahead of the other? The ancient Greeks had a robot which moved by a weight hanging down. A cord was wrapped around an axel and the weight and pegs could be used for locomotion and to change the direction. Hero wrote a book which showed how to build an ancient robot. There were also modifications which controlled the speed of motion. While this simple mode of travel was controlled by rope, one has to wonder why it wasn’t improved on over the years. Imagine if Hero could have made his steam engine a little more practical and used it for locomotion, it might have started the industrial revolution 1700 years earlier. As a modern person it looks so obvious this would have been the next step, but apparently this idea was not in the heads of the ancients at the time. To me, it seems we have wasted many centuries by not taking advantage of what we already knew and improving upon it. This is one of the reasons I have said in the past an alien race might be the same age as us or even younger and yet be far ahead of us in technology. There seems to be things we can’t understand using modern standards of understanding. First of all, why was it so many ancient Greeks were such geniuses when it came to technology? What made them so smart, were some of them privy to ancient records of races gone by we don’t know about? When the Romans burned down the famous library in Alexandria, did it contain records of other races which were lost to us, and could these races have been the basis for some of the brilliant ancient Greek inventions, or did genius just suddenly bloom on its own at the time? It could turn out the loss of the library might be the greatest loss of ancient knowledge which ever happened. Who knows what could have been there, perhaps even records of Atlantis and races we have no knowledge of today? It is said steam was used to power automatic doors on temples so they would open on their own. This proves to me the ancient Greeks knew the power of steam, at least a few of them, which makes the mystery of why it wasn’t used for locomotion at some point? When we found the Antikythera computer it was a complete surprise. Could it be the ancient Greeks might have built some sort of a steam powered cart and it was lost to history. It is possible and the plans could have been in the library. They knew as I said steam had a power if used correctly so the next step seems to be to use it to power various things. They would have had to have a way to create a boiler strong enough to hold a low- pressure steam source. They must have had something to power the doors of the temple. For all we know, Hero the genius inventor might have ridden in a steam powered cart a couple of times. All this makes me wonder what other races may have had advanced ancient technology we know nothing about. Is it possible some race which didn’t even have writing might have been able to develop some advanced object? What about the ancient Egyptians who seemed to develop a model of a bird which actually flew like a glider? How did they develop something which used aerodynamics? Was the age of the wood the bird used ever tested for age? Maybe it was something they found? Hopefully we will get more answers in the future to these mysteries.
